Whitney and Don met 3 years ago when Don was in the Navy.  Whitney had traveled with friends to Norfolk VA to go to a family and friends celebration on the aircraft carrier on which Don was stationed. There was an instant attraction between them and they followed up on it and got to know each other. Now that Don is out of the Navy, they want to start the next chapter in their lives, marriage. Don contacted me in February inquiring of my availability on April 14, 2012 and from there we made all the arrangements by email and US Mail for me to officiate their wedding. I met Whitney and Don and their friends for the first time on their beautiful wedding day. They chose the beautiful amphitheater area behind the visitor center at Duke Gardens. This year the gardens around the amphitheater have been transformed into what is called the White Garden with winding paths and a very interesting pergola that has cathedral type curves giving it a feeling of sacredness. It was inside that pergola where they chose to have their ceremony.
All of the flowers in bloom were white.
This is the usual spot where we do large weddings. Notice there are no lily pads in the pond and the water plants in the perimeter of the circular terrace are no longer there.
 So the ceremony began!
 Their friends gathered around.
 Natural cathedral.....
Don and Whitney really took my words in.
After their vows, they wanted to do a "pinkie swear" a tradition they have created which made their vows unique.
 And now for the rings.......

And now I pronounce you husband and wife!

Don and Whitney, you are so much fun and your love for each other shines on everyone around you! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your very special day. I wish you all the best life can deliver to you!
